Dear Patricia Polacco
I really like your work. I like how you use creative names like Appelemando to make your stories more interesting. I want to be a brilliant artist just like you. People can tell when it’s you when you draw because of your awesome skill at drawing faces.
Your books make me feel like I’m in another world. I can feel the characters sitting next to me. You bring the characters to life with words.
What I like about your books is that you base your stories on real life. You also have an amazing vocabulary. I really enjoy your books.
Sincerely
Liz

Dear Patricia Polaco,
Your writing and illustrations are really good. My favorite book is Mr. Lincoln’s Way. Your illustrations are really good and you also have to write at the same time. You’ve wrote a lot of good books about things that are bad but turn to good things.
I’m in the sixth grade and I go to Chatfield. I’ve read a lot of your books this year. I’ve learned from your books that if there’s a bully than you can turn that person into a good person. You’ve inspired me to write.
Sincerely,
Seth Hart

Dear Patricia Polacco,
Well in school we have been reading your books and your really good. I don’t think I would ever be able to be as great as you. I love all your books but two of my favorite are The Keeping Quilt and Thunder Cake.
In all your books you have such great detail, I don’t think I can really relate to anything you write but that’s okay. I am in sixth grade and I go to Chatfield Elementary School. I think it would be awesome if you could come here to visit us. We have had authors come here but not really awesome ones like you.
Sincerely, Haley

Dear Patricia Polacco,
I go to school at Chatfield and we are reading some of your books. I enjoy all of your books that I have read. Some of the books that I have read are I Can Hear the Sun and Appelemando’s Dreams. Both of them were very good books and very interesting. I love your illustrations because you make everything come to life in Appelemando’s Dreams. The best part I like about your writing is the charteristics you give the characters.
Your art work is amazing and you bring out my feelings and everyone else’s in you books. My feelings when I read you books are awesome; you make me think about different things and different people. The things that I like about your books are the inspiration and feelings you put in your writing. Also, in I Can Hear the Sun I like your heart in the story and also how much heart the boy had to think all those things and believe what he believed in. You remind me of how much I care about people and life. You open my eyes to see how much I like to read and write.
You inspire me to write more about interesting people and put effort and dedication in to what I’m writing. You have also inspired me to practice more on writing so I can be really good at it and be honest to what I am writing. Thank you for inspiring me to write more.
Sincerely,
Jack

Dear Patricia Polacco,
Hi my name is Heather and I am in 6th grade at Chatfield School. I have attended Chatfield for seven years. I have been at Chatfield since kindergarten and now 6th grade. Chatfield is a wonderful school!
There are two 6th grade classes and both classes have been reading you books. We are also doing a “Patricia polacco study”. Some books that we have read and did a response on are Thank you Mr. Falker, apolomondos dream, Mr. Lincoln’s way and, I can hear the sun. We may have read more but I can’t remember.
Thank you for writing and illustrating these books for people. Both 6th grade classes enjoyed your books. I thought they were great! Thank you and enjoy your writing.
Sincerely,
Heather
